Position: Editorial & Digital Media Intern
Location: Fort Madison, Iowa (Hybrid opportunities available)
Duration: 10–12 weeks (flexible start/end dates)
Hours: 8–15 hours per week (flexible scheduling)

About Us:
Fort Madison Monthly is a community-rooted publication committed to telling the stories that matter to our town. From small business features and local arts to school spotlights and event coverage, we provide thoughtful reporting, creative storytelling, and local perspectives in print and online.
Internship Overview:
We’re seeking a creative, self-motivated intern to join our small editorial and digital team. This internship is ideal for students or recent grads in journalism, marketing, communications, or media studies — or anyone passionate about local storytelling.
What You’ll Do:
- Write short features, event previews, and community profiles
- Assist with interviews, research, and photography
- Help manage our website and social media platforms
- Pitch story ideas that matter to Fort Madison residents
- Learn about the editorial process from pitch to publication
- Attend select local events for live coverage or photojournalism
- Optional: work on a semester-long passion project to publish in print or digital
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Interest in community journalism and small-town storytelling
- Familiarity with social media platforms (especially Instagram and Facebook)
- Ability to work independently with attention to deadlines
- Bonus: experience with photography, Canva, or WordPress (not required)

Compensation:
